INTRODUCTION

WHAT IS GURUPEEDAM?

Gurupeedam is a Canadian-based not-for-profit organization founded in Canada in 2008 and later incorporated in 2017 with the intent to raise human consciousness and inner wellbeing through personal transformation.

Under the guidance of Sri Nalenthiran Guruji, the organization serves as a resource for individuals to reconnect with their innate humanity, experience the spiritual self and merge with the divine. Gurupeedam offers a range of transformational programs and community services through which the internal needs of the individual can be fulfilled, thereby opening the possibility for transcendence from a limited identity into their highest self.

MANGAI VIMALENDRAN
President

Mrs. Mangai Vimalendran was appointed as President in July 2020. She served as a high school teacher in the northern province of Sri Lanka. Upon her move to Canada in 1986, she obtained her diploma in accounting. She worked as a Fund Accountant at Franklin Templeton, one of the leading investment companies in Canada, until her retirement. Mrs. Vimalendran has a strong interest in spirituality and has attended several classes to enrich her inner strength.

SHARMILY (CHITHRANGANI) BALASINGHAM
Secretary

Sharmily Balasingham was appointed as Secretary in Aug 2022. Sharmily is a Software Program Management Professional with over 15 years of experience managing complex programs. She holds an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Waterloo and has led many highly impactful organizational transformation initiatives for global software and hardware firms. Sharmily has held various leadership positions at BlackBerry and Intelligent Mechatronic Systems (IMS) and is currently leading the Software Program Management Office at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). Sharmily has been a member of Gurupeedam for more than twelve years and was instrumental in development and execution of key programs and held finance management functions. Most recently, she was the Administrator of the organization and oversaw the day-to-day operations at Gurupeedam. Sharmily is very passionate about Gurupeedam’s mission and is deeply concerned with achieving lasting positive impact and global wellbeing.

THANUSGA KUGATHASAN
Treasurer

Ms. Thanusga Kugathasan was appointed as the Treasurer in June 2021. Thanusga is a Chartered Professional Accountant with experience carrying leadership roles in internal and external audit, financial operations in the not for profit sector and most recently within procure to pay process transformation. Thanusga is currently Director of Procure to Pay Operations & Administration within the real estate management industry. Thanusga has been a member of Gurupeedam for many years and shares a deep feeling of gratitude for the value of Guru’s guidance and the unique programs and services offered by Gurupeedam. As a participant of these programs and services, Thanusga is an advocate to share her transformational journey, internal growth and experience with the global community

GOPERAJAH ARULANANTHAN
Director

Goperajah Arulanathan was appointed as Director of Gurupeedam in October 2024. With over 10 years of experience as an HVAC Service Technician and Installer, Gope has worked for several well known companies like Reliance Home Comfort as well has owned and operated his own HVAC company. . Having been actively involved with Gurupeedam since the beginning, he has contributed significantly to various initiatives supporting the organization’s mission. His deep commitment to Gurupeedam’s values and community service underscores his passion for fostering spiritual growth and positive impact. As a member of the Board of Directors, Goperajah looks forward to supporting the center’s goals and advancing its initiatives for community well-being.

SHOABANA KUGATHASAN
Director

Mrs. Shoabana Kugathasan was appointed as Director in May 2020. She is an Occupational Therapist with over 10 years of experience, which includes working in a hospital setting with clients of all ages struggling with mental health issues, teaching at Centennial College, and providing community services. Currently, Mrs. Kugathasan has a self-employed business providing services for clients injured in motor vehicle accidents as well as workplace accidents. She has been involved with Gurupeedam activities for the past several years and has experienced many changes in her life. Mrs. Kugathasan is committed to working with the public so that they can overcome their struggles through the guidance of the Guru - a once in a lifetime opportunity.
